MLK Day: Community Events & Numz Bodega Merch Drop

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 17, Jaleesa Johnston, Head of Public Programs at the Museum, suggests the resources and events listed below. Also be sure to visit the Numz Bodega to browse and buy shirts, hats, jewelry, accessories, and more from Black-owned businesses. More details are below.

MLK Day Resources and Events

January 14, 15, & 22: MLK Day On: (Re)Claiming Black Joy at University of Portland.

January 17, noon: Reclaim MLK Annual Rally for Human Rights and Dignity, convened by Don’t Shoot Portland and other community organizations.  

January 17, 3 p.m.: Screening of Keep Alive the Dream at the Hollywood Theater, presented by World Arts Foundation Inc.

January 18 & 22: MLK: Living the Legacy—Portland State University event series.

The Numz Bodega MLK merch drop

The Numz Bodega, a cultural pop-up shop in our AUX/MUTE Gallery presented by The Numberz FM, invites you to its MLK merch drop this Saturday, January 15, between 2 and 5 p.m. on the Portland Art Museum’s fourth floor. The experience will include new items from Infamous Items, RootsNRooftops, and NXNE Brand, as well as prints from featured AUX|MUTE artist Jason Hill.
